Ingredients:
Whole Masoor/ Red lentils – ½ cup
Onion – 1
Curry leaves –
5 to 6
Oil – 1 tablespoon
Coriander leaves – ¼ cup
Kokum – 3 to 4
Freshly grated coconut – ¼ cup
Red chilly powder – 2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon
Salt
Water
Recipe:
- Wash and soak the lentils for 2-3 hours.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Add curry leaves and finely chopped onion.
- Saute till the onion becomes translucent.
- Now add red chilly powder, turmeric powder and saute for about a minute.
- Add soaked lentils and mix well.
- Add ½ cup water, cover the pan and cook on slow flame for about 10 mins.
- Once lentils are almost cooked add kokum, salt, coriander leaves and grated coconut.
- Mix everything well and simmer for about 5 mins on low flame.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve with dal- rice, roti or bhakari.
*If kokam is not available, you can use tomato.
*You can sprout lentils and prepare the sabji.
